(from the Thanksgiving trip – written on Satirday, November 26)
It is Saturday.
I didn’t put my lenses in so I can’t see much far away at the gate. Gate A15 is packed with people going… somewhere. I managed to get online to print my boarding pass in time to get in Group A. Hoping I can set up close and get out of the plane as soon as I can and then get home.
It is hard for all of us to live together – mom, dad, my sister and I because we all have our own habits and scheduled and noises. It seems we all make a lot of noise together – whether it is eating sounds or our respective hacking and coughing (we sound like a Catholic BINGO hall with all of our phlegm management).
I am eager to get back home and see Ron and see the kitty and get the month on track. I’m going to spend the flight going over the transcripts for the blogging course one last time before we release it all on Monday. I am eager to get my haircut too – it is getting bushy lately. Maybe I’ll take the trip downtown and see Lisa – my old barber. She’s this crazy gal that cuts hair as great as she talks. She used to talk about how she wished she had a scrotum because she wants to know if it is possible to ‘switch ’em.’ Many men – including her husband – have confirmed time and again that it is not possible to switch ’em no matter how long hard you try but she once said ‘Damn if I had balls I would just be switchin’ ’em all the time – just switch ’em switch ’em switch ’em!’
My flight is oversold but I’m not going to go for the bump since I want to get home.
I hope to get the carpets cleaned this week. I’d called a carpet cleaner but they never returned my call – though that is a pretty half-assed effort. I should have called them all until I had an appointment. Do you ever get frustrated at yourself that you do things a quarter way and then consider that the ‘college try’? I get really impatient with myself sometimes when I do that but it is a bit self-perptuating.
My cellphone charger is done broked because it didn’t charge my phone at all last night.
They just played ‘I Can’t Go For That (No Can Do)’ which I probably haven’t heard since I was 10 or so. I don’t think it is Billy Ocean – he was later than that I think.
More and more people keep showing up. I hope I can get a window seat. I always close my eyes when we land – right before we hit the tarmac. Part of me thinks we’ll bounce or land unevenly and one wing will tilt and hit the runway causing us to spin into a ball of flame.
