The Rosetta comet probe wakes up on Monday. It's been dormant for three years waiting. This is my favorite science-y thing of the past year. They have to get it alongside a comet and get to the same speed (since there's no gravity) and then harpoon it and LAND ON THE GODDAMN COMET. Blows my little Indiana mind. http://www.theguardian.com/science/2014/jan/17/rosetta-comet-chury-esa-67p-churyumov-erasimenko
Rosetta comet chaser set to wake up on Monday after three years' sleep
If it awakes- Rosetta will catch up with a comet and send down a lander to ride the dirty snowball as it hurtles towards the sun
