Cooled Off a Bit

Every morning I get up and say to myself, I’m not going to be surprised by how hot it is outside.

And then I go outside.

The past several days were just unreal. No wind, high humidity and soaring temperatures. Power outages on the south side and the bodies are starting to pile up. The dumpsters ferment and exude the l’eau de Chicago mixed with a dash of transient urine.

Couldn’t get to sleep last night. Both A/C’s cranked down 24/7 and I just feel the heat from my body being reflected off the mattress and back at me.

Today it has cooled off a bit. There’s some wind.
