You have probably heard of the movie What the Bleep Do We Know? which purports to marry metaphysics and quantum mechanics physics into one nice, warm, gooey view of the universe. I saw the movie once and was enthralled with it’s ideas – but skeptical of the cited evidence. And even more so when I saw that one of their experts is J. Z. Knight – the lady from the New Age movement back in the 1980s that channels a 35,000-year-old spirit from Atlantis named Ramtha.
I saw the movie a second time because I wanted to stay outside the emotional experience of the arguments and watch their logic. There are huge, massive leaps of logic in the movie that totally dissolve the movie’s premise.
There is some sort of movie to be made about spirituality and quantum mechanics physics. But this is mostly an infommercial for the Ramtha School of Enlightenment.
And yes, I will say that I do believe in spiritual channeling (how else do you think the Gospels were written) and my sister and I studied it when we were pre-Goth occultists in middle school. I just thought adding a channeled spirit to (what looked like) an educated panel of experts weakened the arguments.
Maybe I should start a cult. I’m charismatic and a great leader. I just don’t think I’d be able to do the mass suicide thing. That’s so – retro. I think internet suicides is the new wave.
This film is what I want to believe about the world. Maybe that says more about me than about the film itself.
