Photo from Iraq

An ash-covered child hugs his father and looks away from a burning building.

From Robert Fisk.

That has to be one of the most powerful pictures I’ve seen so far about the war because it evokes the damage to generations. I must have stared at it for 3 or 4 minutes. Found via MeFi.

And people just don’t get how deep the damage goes, and how long we’re all going to have to live with it.

We’re still living with the damage from messes like Vietnam and Korea. Half a century later, and the North Koreans have gone from being a “police action” issue to a nuclear power. Imagine what an Iraq gone awry could be in 50 years.

It’s too bad that this country is run by too many old men who think war will be like “Rambo.” If some of them had served in Vietnam they might know better.

Thanks for posting this pic, Andy.
