Andrea Mitchell Sitting on Bush Spying on Amanpour Story

A few weeks ago, John Avarosis theorized that maybe a reason that Bush wanted to end-run around the FISA courts – even eschewing retro-active warrants – was because maybe who he was spying on was worse than we could imagine.

NBC had posted a transcript of Andrea Mitchell interviewing John Risen (who broke the NSA/FISA story):

Mitchell: Do you have any information about reporters being swept up in this net?

Risen: No, I don’t. It’s not clear to me. That’s one of the questions we’ll have to look into the future. Were there abuses of this program or not? I don’t know the answer to that

Mitchell: You don’t have any information, for instance, that a very prominent journalist, Christiane Amanpour, might have been eavesdropped upon?

That question was later redacted from the transcripts. Bloggers are suggesting that this implies that Mitchell is working on a bigger story that is not finished and ready for release. Discussion on Metafilter.

Yeah, I’ve been wondering about just WHO the Bushies have been evesdropping on…just who has their phones tapped…maybe other politicians, maybe even anyone who opposed them…did you even think that there might be another reason why the Democratic Party was being out thought??? Maybe it’s because some one is listening in to all of their plans/movements and are ‘cutting them off at the pass’… and maybe I’m just being paranoid.

all of this leads to the highly unsettling conclusion that bush can read.
