saturday, march 10

Last night went well. I am surprised I’m awake at 10 AM. By the time we actually got to opening night I was just sorta non-plussed about the whole thing. But I think there’s such a build-up that unless it’s standing room only with people on the floor clutching their bellies with laughter I’m not completely satisfied. But all went well – a technical hiccup or two but the audience seemed to enjoy themselves. After the show we went to Bobby Love’s for karaoke. Lingo sang All That Jazz with Brigitte, Liz and Jen Oz as back-up. Jen sang two songs – couldn’t tell ya what they were but she rocked. All the girls sang Hardknock Life. Alan sang It Had To Be You. I tried to sing the Money Song from Cabaret but when I got up there it was the wrong Money Song – it was Sitting Pretty – not Money Makes the World Go Round. But I toughed it out – I was totally dying up there but was too drunk to care. We actually got to meet Bobby Love – the bar’s owner. He loves the cast and wants us to come back whenever we want. Lingo had a lesbian chick doing major hits on her – I told that’s what she gets for cutting her hair short and wearing overalls. For the first time in a week I’m picking up laundry off the floor and putting it in the laundry bag. I had two vodka gimlets. A lemondrop shot with Karen (burned all the way down – good Christ). I think that’s all I drank but once it was all circulating I was rollin’ quite well thank you very much. After karaoke we went to the Marigold Bowl for bowling – I did pretty good bowling drunk – probably because I wasn’t thinking too much about what I was doing – but as the frames wore on my accuracy dwindled – not that I cared – shit I bowled 62. That’s like a 50% average for Chrissakes. I knew it was time to go home when I was despondently and contentedly sitting in our alley’s chairs with my eyes closed. Dude. Got in the car and Karen drove us all home. Woke up on my bed at 6 AM, fully clothed with all the lights on and a wonderful texture of foulness on my teeth. Took a shower and went back to bed – woke up at 9 or so. I’m supposed to hang out with Erik today – we’ll see – he usually renegs on me. N****** called. So did Lewis – I keep forgetting that I never called him back. I’m a bastard. Anyway – all went well – I have dinner with Anthony tonight and then he’s coming with to see the plays.

Oh, and mom and dad didn’t call to wish me happy opening night.

Marigold Bowl is soon to close for condos and I am looking for comments from people who have enjoyed the bowling alley for a story I’m writing for Skyline newspaper. If you get this message on Tuesday, April 6 and would like to comment, please do so quickly as I am on deadline. Just let me know what the closing of Marigold means to you. Thanks much.
