Pentagon to Hold Country Music Concert and March on Sept 11

"This year the Department of Defence will initiate an America Supports Your Freedom Walk," Rumsfeld said, adding that the march would remind people of "the sacrifices of this generation and of each previous generation". The march will start at the Pentagon, where nearly 200 people died on September 11, 2001, and end at the National Mall with a show by country star Clint Black.

    Here’s my favorite part:

Q: Who is supporting the Freedom Walk?
R: The America Supports You Freedom Walk enjoys the support of Stars and Stripes newspaper, Pentagon Federal Credit Union, Subway, Lockheed Martin, The Washington Post, WTOP Radio Network, and ABC WJLA-TV Channel 7 & NewsChannel 8, among others.

I don’t know what is more horrific — Lockheed Martin (war profiteers) or the mother loving Washington Post. It has to be the Post. How on earth can they be expected to point out the sickening propagandistic unthinking cynical craptacular aspects of this event when they’re PART OF IT?!? They were jingoistic proponents of a dumb-ass war and they still haven’t apologized for that. Looks like they won’t be doing so any time soon.

And don’t even get me started on SUBWAY!

One of Atrios’s commenters suggested that thousands of people register to join the march, and show up carrying big signs saying “I support the troops but not Bush.”

The American Friends Service Committee has launched a campaign criticizing the Washington Post’s decision to co-sponsor the Department of Defense’s 9-11 Freedom Walk in DC.

This could be another case for a lawyer to get involved – after all, you never know.
