It seems like drugs are becoming increasing central to popular perceptions of “gay culture”, and most frequently so with respect to the perception AMONG gay men. What I find disturbing is how so-matter-of-fact drugs are among many gay men… almost as matter of fact as shaving in the morning. A gay friend of mine insisted I join him at a dinner party hosted by one of his friends. The gathering comprised 20 guys…who obviously spent way too much time at the gym, and very little time reading. Attitude was plenty. And the first topic of conversation when we sat down to eat (as N******nated by the host) was everyone’s first experience with ‘E’ (later topics also included one’s most embarrasing sexual moments). When I announced I had never done E, everyone stared like I was from Mars.
