Maybe This Counts as Responsive

(via Disinfo)

The very first thing George W. Bush did in response to Hurricane Katrina was to offer a helping hand… but to his friends in the oil industry. The president released millions of barrels of oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve so the oil companies would have enough fuel to make gas and keep the country going. Pouring more oil into the marketplace didn’t reduce gasoline prices, which kept on going up, hitting $4 a gallon in some places.

Just like the Gulf Coast evacuation plans and FEMA’s disaster response strategy – all failures.

How many times can a government f*ck up before they get taken to the mat over it?

Or are they waiting in silence ignorance until the average American attention span gets distracted by something else, such as the vapid Fall season broadcast TV premiere offerings, thereby forgetting the impact this mess once had?
