Ron’s mom is with us for a few days while they sleep off the trip from the Philippines and then she flies back home to Milwaukee. This morning she told about her first job interview in the states. Previously, she’d worked in the audit department of the Marcos administration:
“At the end of my first interview when I first came here I had to ask, ‘Do you kill auditors?’ And the guy laughed and said, ‘No, we don’t kill auditors.’ And that’s good because in the Philippines if you find something during an audit they kill you the next day.”
She’s been an auditor for the State of Wisconsin for I think about 20 years now.
I told her that at least in Japan have the courtesy to kill themselves.
