Avoiding Nihilism

“The world is intrinsically meaningless and void; we create meaning and value as a basic function of our nature. We exist as abstract constructs running on wetware, and everything we use to process the world around us is also an abstract construct. The thing you have to bear in mind is that this means abso-fucking-lutely nothing to our daily lives. Dwelling on it is just metaing yourself into a nihilist state of despair. Cut the philosophical shit out of your day-to-day life and let your emotions dictate your purpose until you’ve stabilized and can rationally focus on things that are important to you. Our strength lies in our capacity to reason and understand, but we’re also greatly tied up in emotion and instinct ….  Reality itself might be cold and empty and pointless, but our abstract view of it certainly isn’t. We cannot exist without this abstract world, so what does it matter if it’s not literally true and real?”
