Alan Moore on Anarchy

The graphic novel writer interviewed:

[An economist] was saying that the only reason that governments are governments is that they control the currency; they don’t actually do anything for us that we don’t pay for, other than expose us to the threat of foreign wars by their reckless actions. They don’t actually really even govern us; all they do is control the currency and rake off the proceeds.

The Federal Reserve issues the currency, not the government. The Federal Reserve is owned by private banks. Here’s a quote from my college textbook on money and banking that was written by an economist for the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.

“Each of the Federal Reserve banks is a quasi-public (part private, part public) institution owned by the private commercial banks in the district that are members of the Federal Reserve system.” – Frederic S. Mishkin

There you have it. Also, Ron Paul is the only candidate on either side that will abolish the Federal Reserve and the IRS, so you should look deeper into his campaign.
