A Young Mother's Child's Guilt as an Adult

A woman considering abortion is given controversial advice: “Imagine that fetus as an adult. He or she will know that their mother could have been a brilliant engineer and a successful and happy woman who had children later that she was able to feed and clothe and love without the stress of poverty. He or she will know that they are the reason that you and their father had to scrape by and feel the constant guilt of not being able to take care of their offspring. That fetus that would someday become an adult would feel horribly guilty for existing. I know how that adult would feel because I am that adult. I love my mom and she loves me, but I wish I wasn’t born so that she could have become the woman she always dreamed of.  If I could go back in time I would abort myself and allow my mother to become a self-fulfilled business woman instead of a divorced recovering addict living on welfare. Tl;dr Anyone who loves you will not ask that you sacrifice all your hopes and dreams so that they can exist.”
