85% of US Troops in Iraq Don't Know Why They're There

Zogby released a poll today of troops serving in Iraq:

>85% said the U.S. mission is mainly “to retaliate for Saddam’s role in the 9-11 attacks.”

77% said they also believe the main or a major reason for the war was “to stop Saddam from protecting al Qaeda in Iraq.”

“Ninety-three percent said that removing weapons of mass destruction is not a reason for U.S. troops being there.”

29% of the respondents, serving in various branches of the armed forces, said the U.S. should leave Iraq “immediately,” while another 22% said they should leave in the next six months.

Guys, gals, we want you home safe and sound and soon.

I got these poll results today too… i get all my zogby emails from someone named “Marc” at Zogby… he’s the guy who sends my surveys. It took a long time for them to start actually sending me surveys, and i’ve tried to forward them to friends, or let other people use them, but it never works – which leads me to believe they have some smart people there who work hard to reduce their margins of error. I, being in love with science, am always anxious to help with surveys because i know how important data accuracy is… i would encourage everyone to sign up with Zogby… 🙂

Oh. Wow. My friend, a short Korean girl, age 21, informed me last night she is joining the Navy in the summer. She is a very smart person, but I fear that she will come back with a new mindset towards the treatment of mankind. Her reason: She is not mature or responsible enough to be the music teacher she wants to be (she was attending Roosevelt University in Chicago).
