We first heard about the opiate desomorphine/'krokodil' back when it was tearing through Russia. It's now state-side. It takes only a half-hour to prepare and the high only last a couple hours. The increased frequency of injection contributes to gangrene and tissue damage in users and has resulted in limb amputations of addicts.

A potentially lethal- flesh-eating narcotic compound is catching on in parts of Arizona. Users inject the drug to get high- and the scaly- rotten patches of necrotic flesh it can leave behind have led to the drug being named "krokodil" by its Russian originators- the word for "crocodile."
